BEDFORD, N.Y. - The 9th District Federated Garden Club of New York recently continued its long-standing holiday tradition of honoring veterans residing at the Veterans Home in Montrose.
Last month, members from across the 9th District, including those from The Hopp Ground Garden Club of Bedford came together to create beautiful wreaths that were donated to the Veterans Home, making entrances to residents’ rooms more welcoming and festive as the holiday season approaches.
It was a true testament to community spirit. In addition to the creative designs from members, generous support came from local businesses and organizations. ShopRite in Mount Kisco graciously donated wreaths to The Hopp Ground Garden Club, and the Bedford Audubon Society allowed the club to use space for assembly and decoration.
Bedford Audubon’s Office Administrator Susan Sloan said “Garden Club members are so warmhearted and generous in supporting our veterans with their time and talents. It’s an honor for us to assist them in any way we can.”
Maria Carlino, Chair of The Hopp Ground Garden Club Veterans Committee, helped organize this year’s event, adding “It is a pleasure to be part of this wonderful program. We hope the holidays are a little brighter for the people at the Veterans Home. Many thanks to Mount Kisco ShopRite and Bedford Audubon for their generosity.”
