MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Members of the Westchester County Police’s Special Operations Division joined fellow first responders recently for a visit to Camp Iroquois in Mount Kisco’s Leonard Park.
Campers learned about the police, fire, and EMS agencies that protect their community.
They also got to check out emergency vehicles and equipment.
The kids were thrilled to learn that one of the participating officers, PO Sevillano, had attended Camp Iroquois when he was a kid, the WCPD said.
Along with Sevillano’s patrol car, the campers got to see the Aviation Unit helicopter, an Emergency Service Unit truck, Mount Kisco Fire Department apparatus, and an ambulance from the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
To top it off, they all had a great time meeting canine Essex, a bloodhound trained to locate missing people and fleeing suspects.
The visit to Camp Iroquois has become an annual summer tradition.
“Once again, it was great to spend a summer afternoon with the campers, camp staff, MKFD firefighters and MKVAC personnel,” the WCPD said in a Facebook post.
