MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - A recent National Night Out in Mount Kisco was more than just games, raffles, food, and fun, it was a bonding experience for local law enforcement, firefighters, and residents.

Held at Pinecrest Manor on Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Westchester County Police Department event was aimed at boosting community engagement and raising awareness about crime prevention, two things vital to making neighborhoods safer and more caring.

Among attendees in the large crowd were Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, Mount Kisco Mayor J. Michael Cindrich, members of the Village Board, and County Legislator Erika Pierce.

One of the highlights was a flyover by a helicopter from the WCPD’s Aviation Unit.

Supporting the get-together was ShopRite Mount Kisco.

National Night Out (NNO) is usually held during the first week of August. The first one was held by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) in 1984 and involved 2.5 million folks across 400 communities in 23 states.

It’s since grown to 38 million neighbors in 17,000 communities across the country, according to NNO.
