Somers, N.Y. – Cruz Zeiler of Mahopac went 2-2 last Sunday at the Youth Eastern States Tournament, hosted by Empire Wrestling Academy at the Somers Sports Arena.
But a highlight of his day was meeting Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs, considered one of the greatest freestyle wrestlers ever. Burroughs is the founder of the “All I See Is Gold Academy” in Collingswood, NJ.
According to the bio on his team’s website, Burroughs was a two-time NCAA champion and Hodge Trophy winner for the Nebraska Huskers. Since college, Burroughs set the American record with his seventh gold medal at the Olympic and World Championship level in 2022.
