CARMEL, N.Y. — The popular youth fishing clinic is returning to the area next month. The free event is open to kids ages 5 to 15. Registration is required.
Councilman Robert Kearns will host his third fishing clinic Saturday, Sept. 6, at Carmel’s Veterans Memorial Park in partnership with the Oasis Club, the Putnam Federation of Sporting Clubs and Putnam County.
The first 50 children to arrive will receive a free fishing rod, tackle box and tackle. Participants will learn the basics of fishing before trying their luck in the pond and aiming to land a big catch.
Two sessions are scheduled: 8 to 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. to noon. The event is open to all. The Carmel and Kent police departments will be on hand, along with a full K-9 demonstration.
