MAHOPAC, N.Y.—The Wolf Pac boys basketball team closed regular-season action last week with a pair of losses, falling to Poughkeepsie, 54-40, last Wednesday on the road, before dropping a 64-62 overtime decision Friday at Carmel.
Mahopac’s Matt Reilly tied Friday night’s game at 55-55 with two seconds remaining in regulation, sending the game into OT, where the Rams prevailed. Reilly finished with 27 points, and Drew Lichtenberger added 15.
Two days earlier at Mahopac, the Wolf Pac had a third-quarter lead, but couldn’t hold on vs. the Pioneers.
“We had a lead, but they went on a little run, and we couldn’t put the ball in the basket,” Pac coach Matt Calabro said.
“We’ve had some tough luck with injuries,” Calabro added. “And a few big bounces have gone against us. But this group keeps responding the right way. I’m hoping we can get a bounce or two to go our way Thursday when we open the playoffs.”
Mahopac (8-12) was set to host a Class AA playoff game Thursday (Feb. 20), with a tentative time of 5 p.m.
