Putnam crosswalks get a patriotic makeover

Posted

Putnam County has found a very down-to-earth way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday by giving a patriotic paint job to several crosswalks on county roads, including Secor Road near the intersection with Route 6N.

In a Facebook post, the county government said the Department of Public Works created the “beautiful patriotic displays in time for the 4th of July” as part of Putnam’s ongoing Revolutionary Putnam America 250 efforts.

In the post, county officials gave a “shout out to our DPW crews for all their hard work on these hot days to make things a little bit brighter for our community.” Their efforts were also earning praise from the public, with nearly 2,000 likes more than 225 comments posted at the time of writing.

“Now that’s a crosswalk!” said Paulie Bonfiglio, while Alyce Bilello added, “Wow, they did a great job, it looks beautiful.”

Peggy Morgan was one of many to give kudos to the DPW crews.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!” she wrote. “These are beautiful and so patriotic. God Bless America, Putnam County and all the DPW workers who created this tribute.”
