The Putnam Arts Council (PAC) is seeking submissions for “Dreamscapes and Fantasies: Surreal, Imaginative, Whimsical,” a juried exhibition opening next month at the Belle Levine Art Center in Mahopac.
The exhibition will run Sept. 12-27 at the A. Eric Arctander Gallery, 521 Kennicut Hill Road. An opening reception will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, from 2 to 5 p.m.
The show will feature works inspired by dreams, fantasy, whimsy, and surrealism. Artists 18 and older may submit up to two original works that have not previously been exhibited at the Putnam Arts Council. All media are eligible.
Two-dimensional works may not exceed 36 inches in any direction, including the frame. Three-dimensional pieces must be of a size and weight that can be safely handled by one person.
Artwork must be hand-delivered to the gallery Saturday, Sept. 5, or Sunday, Sept. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. Entry fees are $25 for Arts Council members and $30 for non-members for up to two works. The council retains a 35 percent commission on artwork sold during the exhibition.
Artists will be eligible for the Jeanne Demotses Excellence in Arts Awards, including $150 for Best in Show, $100 for second place and $75 for third place. Honorable mentions may also be awarded. The juror will be announced at a later date, with awards presented during the opening reception.
Following the opening, the exhibition will be open Tuesday through Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Sundays, Sept. 13, 20 and 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. It will also be available for viewing by appointment.
An artists talk will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, from 3 to 4 p.m.
Submission forms will be available when artwork is dropped off and through the Putnam Arts Council website.
