The Mahopac varsity girls basketball team got balanced performances in a pair of league wins last week, as the Wolf Pac rolled over Walter Panas, 54-31, last Friday night in Cortlandt—three days after putting a 57-39 beating on Brewster in Brewster in a show of dominance away from home.
Friday at Panas, senior Mady Ford led the Pac with 17 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Giuliana Masciarelli had eight points while Fiona Kelleher added seven points and four rebounds.
The prior Tuesday at Brewster, Giana Puckhaber filled the stat sheet with 22 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block. Niamh Kelleher added 11 points and handed out six assists. Ford had nine points to go with four assists and a pair of steals.
“It seems like we’re hitting a good spot in our season,” coach Jason Conklin said. “We’re really coming together. One of our goals was, we wanted a league title—and now we can see a path to that. It can be ours if we win out in the league. Lately, we’ve been taking care of business.
“It was nice to get the win at Brewster,” Conklin added. “Puckhaber was outstanding again in a lot of categories. Panas is down a little this year, so we talked about not playing down to the competition—and we played well. Everyone contributed.”
The Pac (9-3, 4-1) is set to host Brewster tonight (Jan. 28) at 6 p.m., and travel to RCK Saturday for a noon tip.
