The Wolf Pac volleyball team continued to struggle last week as it tries to find its rhythm. Mahopac dropped a pair of matches to Horace Greeley, falling 3-1 Friday, Sept. 19, on the road after dropping a 3-0 decision the prior Monday at Mahopac.
In between was a 3-0 loss to Peekskill and a 3-1 setback to Putnam Valley.
In the Friday loss to Greeley (25-15, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15), Bella DeChico had seven kills, 11 digs, nine assists, two blocks and a pair of aces in the loss. Vivien Zucchi added six kills and two blocks, Olivia Hoyt had 12 digs, two kills and three aces, and Lily Slizowski had five assists to go with seven digs.
DeChico had 13 kills and four aces, Slizowski added 15 assists and four aces in the loss to Peekskill, and DeChico’s 14 kills, three aces, 22 assists and eight digs led the team vs. Put Valley.
Sophia DeMayo added seven kills, Zucchi had seven kills and three blocks, and Slizowski had 14 assists to go with six digs in that loss.
In the 3-0 loss to Greeley, DeChico had four kills, six digs and six assists, Nadia Stepinac added five kills, and Alenah Gomes came up with eight digs.
“The team has been struggling to find consistent play,” Mahopac coach Jay Melville said. “We haven’t been passing the ball well, which has led to offensive struggles. We’re giving up too many free points, making it difficult to compete in matches.”
The Pac (2-7) was scheduled to host Carmel on Sept. 25 and travel to face Yorktown on Sept. 30.
