The White Plains Ice Hockey Tournament at the Ebersole Rink is often a good early-season gauge for Section 1 clubs, and the youthful Wolf Pac came out howling.
In the season-opening win against host White Plains, Mahopac junior Evan Flood scored the team’s first goal of the year, a second period tally from freshman Brennan Lundy for a 1-0 lead. The Wolf Pac padded the lead when freshman D Ryan Arnold scored his first career goal, tickling twine from sophomore D Jacob Minnix. After surrendering a third period goal to White Plains at 8:04, Mahopac senior F Ryan Danahy put the Tigers on ice with an unassisted insurance goal at 3:34 of the third. Pac sophomore G Liam Robinson made eight saves behind a stout defensive effort.
“It was a great defensive effort by the team,” coach Donaghy said. “It was great to start the season with a win, but we all know there’s room for improvement.”
