New scholarships launched for Putnam County seniors

Posted

The Brian Hess Scholarship Fund has launched a new scholarship program that will award financial assistance to graduating seniors at each of Putnam County’s five high schools.

The scholarship fund will provide a $500 award annually to one graduating senior from each school to help pay for college, trade school or other accredited post-secondary education programs.

Fund organizers said the program was created to recognize students who demonstrate strong character, leadership, integrity, and commitment to community service.

“The goal of this scholarship is to support students who not only work hard academically, but who also demonstrate leadership, resilience, and a genuine commitment to their community,” said Hess, who is sheriff of Putnam County. “These are the qualities that help build stronger communities, and it is important that we recognize and invest in young people who embody them.”

To be eligible, applicants must be graduating seniors enrolled in a Putnam County high school. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, character, and future goals.

Applications are currently open and must be submitted by June 1.
