Ronald A. Goodrow, president of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on Sept. 25, 2025, at age 54 with his family by his side.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1971, in Mount Kisco, becoming the second son of John and Eileen (née MacPhee) Goodrow. After dating throughout high school and college, Ron married Denise Schilpp on Sept. 2, 1995, and created a family of three beautiful girls.
Ron was a devoted family man and respected community leader. His commitment to service was unparalleled, working up the ranks throughout his 37 years in the Mahopac Fire Department. As the current president and ex-chief of the department, he dedicated countless hours ensuring the safety and well-being of his community. His tenure as a former Putnam County fire investigator was marked by his keen insight and unwavering dedication to duty. Ron’s passion for firefighting was truly a calling, and if he wasn’t with his family, he was doing something for the firehouse.
Beyond his service, Ron love to support his daughters in their passions and lifestyles, whether that be sitting ringside or trailering horses to different shows for Rachel and Madison or traveling the East Coast for soccer with Emma. He was their biggest cheerleader, always present with words of encouragement and a beaming smile. Ron’s presence and support will be deeply missed.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Denise, his mother Eileen, daughter Rachel Fiorio and her husband DJ, daughter Emma and her fiancé Wayne, daughter Madison, brother John and his wife Christine, niece Nicole, and her husband Nick, and nephew Andrew.
