A missing person investigation in Putnam County has ended with the discovery of a deceased individual, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies received a report of a missing person on Tuesday, Jan. 6, according to Undersheriff James Menton. Investigators conducted follow-up efforts in an attempt to locate the individual.
At about 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 7, the body of an individual was found in a wooded area near Eastview Court in the village of Brewster.
“At this time, the identity of the individual is being withheld pending proper notification of family members,” Menton said in a prepared statement.
Authorities said the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined. However, based on the information available, there is no indication of foul play, and the incident appears to be isolated.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being handled by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Officials noted that information is subject to change, and additional details will be released as they become available.
