Measles case reported in Mahopac

Putnam Health Dept. warns public may have been exposed

MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The Putnam County Department of Health has issued an alert for measles after someone in Mahopac was diagnosed with the disease.

In a press release, the Health Department stated that the individual potentially exposed others to the disease and cautioned that anyone who was at Arturo’s Tavern, 878 Route 6, in Mahopac, on Wednesday, May 28, between the hours of 6 and 10 p.m. should notify the DOH immediately.

Measles is highly contagious and spreads through the air via coughs and sneezes.

Anyone at this location during this time should contact the DOH at 845-808-1390 and ask to speak to a communicable disease nurse.
