MAHOPAC, N.Y.—Mahopac resident Anthony DelDuco has been inducted into Assembly District 94 Veterans Hall of Fame.
DelDuco joined fellow veterans and local officials at Carmel Town Hall in Mahopac on the Saturday before Veterans Day for a ceremony led by Assemblyman Matt Slater, a Navy Reserve officer.
Slater organized the event to honor one veteran from each town within his 94th Assembly district. By highlighting veterans from every part of the district, Slater said, the event “is designed to celebrate the bravery, resilience, and commitment of those who served, ensuring their legacies continue to inspire future generations.”
DelDuco grew up in Somers and joined the Air Force in February 1983, serving in California and Italy. Upon his release from active duty, he returned to his hometown where he went to work for a plumbing and heating contractor. In 1987, he joined the Air Force Reserves and the 439th Civil Engineer Squadron at Westover ARB, Mass., where he would eventually retire as Chief Master Sergeant in 2015.
During his service, DelDuco received various awards including the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, and Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters. DelDuco is an active life member of Mahopac VFW Post 5491 and is a member of Mahopac American Legion Post 1080. He currently works for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department as a correctional officer.
Slater said he was proud to continue a program recognizing local veterans.
“This marks the second year we did it,” Slater said. “It carries on a tradition that started with Sen. Greg Ball, then Sen. Terrence Murphy and I’m proud to continue it.”
The veterans were nominated by their respective town boards. In addition to DelDuco, veterans recognized include James Apostolico (Putnam Valley), Michael Cairney (Patterson), John Duncan (Southeast), Otto Romanino (Kent), Nils Mockler (Yorktown), and Denis Timone (Somers).
