Mahopac steps up at St. Patrick's Day Parade

Posted

With the weather cooperating and melting the dingy remnants of this winter’s massive snowfall, Mahopac was a welcoming setting for the 2026 Northern Westchester–Putnam St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which brought out hundreds of marchers and onlookers for a celebration of Irish heritage and more.

The 49th annual parade was led by Grand Marshal Thomas “Tommy” Feighery and featured a broad mix of local organizations including police and fire departments, marching bands, schools, veterans groups, scouts and civic organizations from across Putnam and Northern Westchester.

Among those marching were the Stephen P. Driscoll Memorial Pipe Band and Local 21 Pipe Band, dancers from the Clan na hÉireann School of Irish Dance, members of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department and Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department and the Mahopac High School Color Guard. Scouts from Pack 371 in Mahopac and Troop 1 from Carmel joined the procession, along with Mahopac Color Guard Post 1080, students from St. Patrick’s School in Yorktown Heights and the Rail Town Conductors. A recreation of The Red Mill, pulled by the Putnam County Department of Public Works, was also part of the parade.
