MAHOPAC, N.Y.—Two players took home All-Section and All-League honors, and 11 in all earned post-season accolades to cap off the Mahopac HS football team’s 6-4 season.
It was the fifth consecutive winning season for the Wolf Pac, which reached the playoffs for the fourth straight year. Mahopac lost to Harrison in the first round of the Class A tournament before beating Ossining in a matchup game to end its season.
Senior DE/OL and team captain Landon Varley, and senior RB/DE Jack Clifford earned All-Section and All-League honors, with Varley also named Outstanding Defensive Lineman in League A North.
Senior OL/DT and team captain Dean Ulaj, and senior K/P Kyle Pinto were named All-Conference and All-League, and senior WR/DB and team captain Nick Tardio, junior WR/DB Lorenzo Echandy, junior OL/DT Matt Bentivenga, sophomore QB/LB Ethan Dedvukaj, junior TE/DE Matt Dugan, senior WR/LB Ronan Hunter, and junior RB/LB and team captain Nate Mascoll, all took home All-League honors.
“What will be remembered most about the 2024 team is the leadership of our senior class,” coach Dominick DeMatteo said. “This group of 14 student-athletes did everything we asked them to do to enhance our program, and give our team the best chance to win every week. More importantly, these seniors exemplified what it truly means to be a Mahopac student-athlete. They were talented, resilient, and above all, unselfish.”
Other seniors include Billy Baumann, Kelbin Cruz-Quast, Anthony Eppolito, Michael McEnaney, Dennis Nikocevic, Danny Robinson, Chris Russo, and Justin Sanchez.
