MAHOPAC, N.Y.—Mahopac Cheerleading Shines at AYC Big East Regionals in  Trenton, NJ – November 9, 2024 – 

It was an electrifying day for the Mahopac Sports Association (MSA) cheerleading teams at the AYC Big East Regionals in Trenton, New Jersey, as 200 teams from across the region gathered to compete. Representing Mahopac, three dedicated teams took the floor and delivered inspiring performances, bringing home impressive accolades. 

The D10 team, aptly named Thunder and comprised of enthusiastic 4th and 5th graders, hit the mat with precision and poise. Their flawless routine earned them a “zero-deductions” performance, which means no errors or missed elements – a remarkable achievement in the competitive world of cheer. Thunder’s perfect score was also their highest of the season, highlighting their steady improvement and dedication. 

The D14 team, Alpha, made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, performed with heart and intensity, leaving it all on the mat. They too achieved a zero-deductions routine and were awarded a hard-earned third place, showcasing their resilience and growth throughout the season. 

Last but not least, the D8 team, known as Midnight, brought their skill and spirit to the stage. These talented third graders delivered another perfect performance, clinching a first-place victory and earning the title of regional champions. Their relentless work and team spirit were evident as they claimed the top spot, an honor they are sure to cherish. 

As the season approaches its conclusion, excitement is building for this weekend’s final competition, which Mahopac will proudly host. With all three teams delivering strong performances, the community eagerly anticipates a thrilling finish to an incredible season. All five of MSA's cheerleading teams will be performing at the high school during their annual Battle of the Bows cheerleading competition this Sunday, November 17th.
