Mahopac Public Library will host a new art exhibit, “Translucent Moments on Life & Nature,” featuring watercolor paintings by Mahopac artist Tooraj Pourmand from Dec. 10, 2025, through Jan. 5, 2026, in the Third Floor Gallery.
Pourmand, known for his portraits, landscapes and still life compositions, describes watercolor as a medium that mirrors “the flow of human life with remarkable fidelity.” The exhibit is divided into four sections: Beauty of Still Life, Graceful Horses, Tranquil Landscapes, and Humanity’s Beauty: Grief and Shame.
Born in Ahvaz, Iran, Pourmand earned a master’s degree in architectural design from Tehran University, later joining the faculty. His work has been exhibited in Tehran, Los Angeles, New York and Paris. Now a Mahopac resident, he has shared his artistic skills locally by teaching watercolor classes at Putnam Arts Council.
The public is invited to an opening reception on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. No registration is required.
More information about the exhibit and other upcoming events is available at mahopaclibrary.org/art-galleries or by emailing mplgallerycommittee@gmail.com. The library is at 668 Route 6 in Mahopac.
