Italian culture, food, and community spirit took center stage last weekend as locals gathered at Chamber Park for the Italian-American Club’s annual "A Night in the Piazza" in Mahopac. Attendees enjoyed authentic Italian treats like fresh cannolis, gelato, sausage and peppers, and pastries while taking in live music, watercolor painting, and dance performances along South Lake Boulevard. Highlights of the evening included a crowd-wide singalong to "O Sole Mio," a martial arts demonstration by UMAC, and the event's inaugural cannoli-eating contest, capped off by 5-year-old AnnaMaria Amato being named this year's Little Miss Columbus.
