It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Mary Weisel (nee Murphy) on June 8. Surrounded by the love of her family, she departed peacefully. Born in Trenton, New Jersey on March 25, 1931, Joyce was the only child of Mathew and Ruth Murphy. A Hamilton High School graduate, she later worked at ETS Testing Services and subsequently for Dr. Norman Vincent Peale at the Foundation for Christian Living after raising her family.

On March 16, 1954, Joyce married her beloved husband, Harold Weisel, embarking on a remarkable 71-year journey of love and companionship. Their shared passion for travel led them on numerous adventures across the country following their retirement in 1991. Beyond travel, Joyce's interests included camping (preferably in a camper!), cultivating her love of flowers and birds, and the joy of square dancing and singing . She was also a collector of teacups and dolls.

Joyce was a loving  daughter, wife, mother, Nana, and friend, whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of everyone she knew. She will be deeply missed.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Harold; her sons, Scott and Tim (Deborah); and her cherished grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Nancy, and her great-grandchild, Lucy James Weisel.

Friends and family paid their respects on Friday, June 13, at Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Hudson Valley Hospice, and to Myrlan, Miami and Mylene for their compassionate care during the past year.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce's memory may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice,80 Washington Street, Suite 204, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or The Pawling Resource Center, 126 E Main St, Pawling, NY 12564.
