Mahopac School District voters approved the district's $148.3 million 2026-27 budget, which came with a zero-percent tax increase, 1,831-875, according to results provided at the end of a live stream of the vote count late Tuesday night.
Voters also had several additional propositions to consider.
Proposition 2 — an independent $1.6 million proposal to purchase new school buses and transportation equipment as part of the district’s established replacement cycle — passed 1744-951.
Proposition 3 — establishing a capital reserve fund to allow excess funds from this year’s budget to be saved for future projects — passed 1,714-965. A similar proposal failed in last year’s community vote.
Proposition 4 — a $12.5 million bond proposition for building improvements across the district, including bathroom renovations, partial roof replacements, HVAC upgrades and gymnasium improvements — passed 1,627-1,068.
According to the district, the proposal will have no tax impact on the community.
Contingent on Proposition 4 passing, Proposition 5 passed 1,435-1,264, authorizing an additional $8 million for projects including high school auditorium upgrades and playground replacements at Fulmar Road and Austin Road. The project would have been financed through bonds and repaid through taxes over time.
Proposition 6, which was contingent on Propositions 4 and 5 passing, failed, with 1,169 in favor and 1,515 against. It would have added a $10.5 million athletic and recreational improvement project at the Falls School complex, including synthetic turf fields for baseball and softball, expanded seating, lighting, walkways and related facilities. The project also would have been financed through bonds and repaid through taxes over time.
In a seven-candidate field, the top three vote-getters earned a seat on the school board with three-year terms set to begin July 1.
According to results released by the district, the top three are Joseph Catalli (1,771) , Lindsay DiCerbo (1,373) and Adam Savino (1,318).
Defeated were Alana Sweeny (923), Jaime Dickson (886) incumbent School Board President Michael Mongon (741), and Evan Fu (197)
