Duo exhibition by Mahopac artists comes to Library in May

MAHOPAC, N.Y.—Two area artists will share their watercolor, acrylic and pastel works at the Third Floor Gallery at Mahopac Library next month.

The exhibit will primarily feature a mix of animal and human portraiture.

Vicki DiCairano is a Mahopac resident and former VP /board member of Putnam Humane Society.

“My paintings mainly include animals; many of my farm animal paintings are donated to Broom Animal Sanctuary where they are auctioned off in their fundraisers,” DiCairano said. “A great deal of my work is for individuals doing portraits of their pets.”

DiCairano’s artistic talents were evident at a young age, when her high school artwork earned her a scholarship to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she studied as an art major.

DiCairano later studied oil painting privately with Bedford artist O. Brown, took many art courses at Westchester County Center in White Plains. She also studied watercolor painting techniques at the Putnam Arts Council.

Ann Marie Napoli is an accomplished artist and art teacher from Brooklyn who enjoys summering on Lake Mahopac with family and friends. Like DiCairano, Napoli studied at F.I.T., graduating with a degree in Illustration, and later studied Renaissance art at the University of Florence in Italy.

Napoli worked as an accessory designer for over a decade and now as an art educator at a Brooklyn elementary school.

“Throughout my life as an artist, I've discovered that inspiration is all around me, striking when I least expect it,” Napoli said. “I thrive on capturing the essence of the vibrant community in Brooklyn and beyond…my passion lies in painting and sketching portraits that tell a story.”

The Duo Art Exhibition will be held in the Third Floor Gallery at Mahopac Public Library, May 10-30, with an opening reception with the artists, May 10, 1- 2:30 p.m. Refreshments served; no registration required.
