MAHOPAC, N.Y.—A car crashed into an urgent care facility in Mahopac this afternoon (Nov. 13), shattering a plate glass window and damaging an exam room inside. The driver required medical attention, but no one inside the building appears to have been injured.

According to a Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department Facebook Post, the accident occurred a little after 2 p.m., when firefighters were dispatched along with Carmel PD to the area of 979 Route 6 (Lake Plaza) for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries.

“First arriving units discovered a vehicle had been driven over the curb onto the sidewalk and into the plate glass window of the Nuvance Health Care facility,” MVFD's Facebook post said. “The vehicle came to rest within one of the exam rooms, [which] was unoccupied at the time of the incident.”

MVFD said the diver was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation but offered no details on their condition.
Before the vehicle could be removed, the town building inspector came to the scene to ensure that no structural members of the building were compromised by the accident. The vehicle was removed after about 30 minutes.
No injuries have been reported inside the building.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
