Byrne wraps latest round of public forums across Putnam

Posted

Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne has concluded his latest series of “Conversations with the County Executive” forums, holding final sessions in Nelsonville and the hamlet of Carmel.

The informal gatherings, held at locations across the county, were intended to give residents an opportunity to speak directly with county leadership. Byrne fielded questions and discussed issues including taxes, infrastructure, energy and environmental concerns, while also hearing feedback from attendees.

The final two sessions took place at Nelsonville Village Hall and the Carmel Diner in Carmel Hamlet, where residents continued to raise questions and offer input on county priorities. Byrne also provided updates on ongoing initiatives, including tax relief efforts, infrastructure projects, and expanded services.

“These forums are some of the most valuable conversations we have,” Byrne said, describing them as an opportunity for residents to ask questions and share ideas directly with his office.

The “Conversations” series is one of several public outreach efforts Byrne has undertaken since taking office. Others include events branded as “Trailblazing with Byrne” and “Talking in the Library,” along with town halls, livestreamed meetings and community presentations.

Byrne said the goal of the outreach is to maintain accessibility and gather input from residents to help shape county policy.

“Good government starts with listening,” he said.

County officials said updates on future events and initiatives will be posted on the county’s website and social media channels.
