MAHOPAC, N.Y.—Ronan Beany scored three times—including the late game-winner—to help the Wolf Pac to a 7-5 win over the BYSNS on Dec. 21.

“Last week I said I believe we could have a successful season and our win this weekend was a result of the hard work we have been putting in,” Beany said. “We just have to keep working and building on our efforts each week.”

Joe Minnix, Jacob Minnix, Ryan Danahy, and Christian Martirano added a goal apiece, with Alex Wanner, Joey Golia, Joe Minnix, and Martirano recording assists in a balanced attack.

“We really proved ourselves this week with a win over the BYSNS," Martirano said. “And we’re not done.”

Coach Tim Donaghy said the game could have gone either way but for Beany’s clutch goal.

“Beany had the game-winner with 1:16 left,” the coach said. “This was a back-and-forth game both teams had the lead at different points. We showed real determination after a couple of tough bounces early. The team believe in themselves and stepped up and proved it to themselves.”

Donaghy said having former players in the crowd made the win more special.

“It was also cool a lot of alumni was there to watch the end of the game because we had an alumni game after with about 25 former Mahopac Hockey players,” he said.

Wanner called victory Mahopac’s “best win we’ve had in years.”

“I am proud of our team for our performance so far and we are looking to build on it,” Wanner added. “Everything came together and we looked like a legitimately well-put-together hockey team.”

Mahopac goalie Liam Robinson—who made 31 saves—said the game showed that Mahopac can face tough situations.

“I believe our team has picked it up in the past couple of weeks and has really proven who Mahopac is as a town,” Robinson said. “This past weekend’s game versus BYSNS has proven that we have been improving as a team and as players. I am proud of how we have been playing and [we're looking forward… It won’t be easy, but I think we are ready for the challenge.”
