It was close to freezing on the night of this year’s “Holiday on the Lake” parade in Carmel.
But the low temperatures did little to dampen the holiday spirit for many who gathered to watch some familiar faces parade past on several dozen home-made floats.
For 30 years, the event has been hosted annually by the Hamlet of Carmel Civic Association. Those who braved the cold were treated to several free hot chocolate stations along the parade route, a Carmel school bus decked out in a ‘Frozen’ theme, candy and glowsticks strewn into the crowd, and no less than two quite convincing ‘Grinch’ impersonators. Naturally, Santa and Mrs. Claus themselves closed out the parade before a brief tree-lighting ceremony. When the switch flipped, more than 70 trees lit up alongside the lakefront.
