SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. - The Vista Volunteer Fire Department spread holiday cheer throughout the community on Saturday, Dec. 13, as it held its sixth annual Candy Cane Run across the Vista Fire District.
Fire department members traveled through neighborhoods alongside Santa Claus, stopping to hand out candy canes, pose for photos, and greet residents of all ages. The festive tradition once again brought smiles to children and adults alike while reinforcing the close relationship between the department and the community it serves.
The Candy Cane Run has become a popular annual event, offering families a chance to celebrate the season while interacting with local first responders in a fun, informal setting.
The Vista Volunteer Fire Department thanked the community for its continued support of the event and expressed appreciation to Santa Claus for making the trip from the North Pole to help spread holiday spirit throughout the district.
Department officials said they look forward to continuing the Candy Cane Run in the years ahead as part of their ongoing commitment to community engagement.
