KATONAH, N.Y. - This month, Chroma Fine Art Gallery in Katonah is hosting The Ground Glass – 50th Anniversary Exhibition, a landmark celebration of one of the region’s most accomplished photographic collectives.
The exhibition runs from through Dec. 7, with an opening reception scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Showcasing a dynamic spectrum of fine art photography, the exhibition captures both the diversity and vitality of the medium today. Visitors can expect everything from intimate studies of light and form to sweeping landscapes and abstract compositions—each piece inviting viewers to reflect on how perception, emotion, and memory intersect through the photographic lens.
“The diversity of work in this exhibition is remarkable,” said curator Rita Baunok. “Each artist brings a unique visual language—some grounded in classical technique, others pushing the boundaries of digital experimentation—but all united by a deep commitment to photographic expression.”
Founded in 1975 by Renata Rainer, The Ground Glass has served as a creative hub for photographers throughout Westchester and beyond. Over the past five decades, the group has remained devoted to advancing photography as both art and inquiry, fostering an environment where experimentation and innovation thrive.
That enduring spirit is vividly reflected in this special anniversary exhibition, which stands as both a tribute to The Ground Glass’s storied past and a testament to the evolving art of photography.
