YORKTOWN HEIGHTS — The annual Support-A-Walk for Breast and Ovarian Cancer will take place tomorrow—Sunday, Oct. 5—at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights and in communities nationwide. The event raises awareness of the needs of people affected by breast, ovarian, and other gynecological cancers while generating funds for free support programs offered throughout the year.
Founded to promote compassion and connection, the walk draws thousands of participants who come together to celebrate survivors, honor loved ones, and show encouragement for those currently in treatment. Activities at the park begin at 9 a.m. with team photos, music, kids’ activities, and a warm-up led by Club Fit instructors. The walk kicks off with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m., rain or shine.
Proceeds fund free services such as peer counseling, support groups, wellness programs, and educational resources. Organizers emphasize that the Support-A-Walk is independent and does not receive funding from national cancer organizations like the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen.
Participants can join in person or “walk wherever they are.” Registration, fundraising tools, and updates are available at SupportConnection.org.
