Mahopac’s Dana’s Diner, known for reimagining the classic American diner experience, is turning up the heat this summer with a lineup of family-friendly events that go far beyond the plate. With a fresh summer menu that captures the season’s best flavors, there’s even more reason to stop in. This season, Dana’s isn’t just serving food—it’s a hub for hands-on learning and pint-sized entertainment, offering a series of fun, interactive experiences that blend creativity, learning, and great food.
Kicking things off on July 1 is Storybook Chefs, a delightful five-week cooking and storytime series designed for toddlers ages 2 to 6. Each week features a food-themed book—like Dragons Love Tacos or Pete the Cat and the Perfect Pizza Party—followed by a cooking activity that brings the story to life. From pancake flipping to taco making, kids will roll up their sleeves and help prepare their own lunch using provided ingredients and kid-safe tools. It’s messy, magical, and utterly delicious.
But that’s not all. Dana’s Diner is teaming up with Putnam Music Center for a brand-new Rhythm of Summer program—a percussion class tailored for toddlers and young kids. Held every Thursday in July from 12 to 2 p.m., this upbeat, interactive class includes hands-on drumming, musical play, and, of course, lunch. Instruments and smiles included. At $30 per session, it’s a great way to explore music while enjoying Dana’s tasty eats.
Space is limited for both programs, and reservations are required. Whether your little one is stirring soup after reading Stone Soup or pounding out a rhythm on a mini drum, Dana’s Diner is the go-to spot this summer for more than just mouthwatering meals.
