KATONAH, N.Y. - On Sunday, May 4, the Katonah Poetry Series and Katonah Village Library are honored to present award-winning poet Mark Wunderlich.

J. D. McClatchy wrote of Wunderlich's debut, "The Anchorage bravely takes up the raw mess of desire and pain, the cold ache of longing and loss, and in sleek and searing poems exposes the way we live now to the larger powers of the racing heart and the radiant imagination."

Of his most recent book, Diane Seuss writes, “I am in love with God of Nothingness, which is permeated, it turns out, with a majestic somethingness.”  “The superb fourth collection from Wunderlich disarms with its directness, humor, and pathos.” Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Wunderlich’s other books include The Earth Avails, (Graywolf Press 2014) which received the Rilke Prize from the University of North Texas and which was a finalist for the Kingsley Tufts Award, Voluntary Servitude (Graywolf, 2004) and The Anchorage (UMass Press, 1999) which received the Lambda Literary Award. He is the recipient of the Wallace Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Amy Lowell Traveling Fellowship, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Wunderlich’s work has been published in over 30 anthologies including multiple volumes of The Best American Poetry, and has appeared in The New Yorker, The Nation, The New Republic, The Paris Review, Poetry, The New York Times Magazine, and has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. Wunderlich holds a BA in German Literature and English from the University of Wisconsin, and an MFA from Columbia University School of the Arts. Wunderlich teaches at Bennington College and lives in the Hudson River Valley.

The reading will begin at 4 p.m. at the Katonah Village Library, 26 Bedford Rd, Katonah, NY 10536, and will be followed by a brief Q & A.
