WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Maple sugaring will return this weekend to Alfred B. DelBello Muscoot Farm in Somers and the Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River.
The family-friendly events include informational sessions, tastings, and hands-on tree tapping.
They will take place from Saturday, Feb. 1, through Saturday, March 22.
Some of these require pre-registration and they fill up quickly, county parks officials said.

Calling the maple sugaring process “an amazing blend of nature, tradition, and craftsmanship,” County Executive Ken Jenkins praised staff who run the programs as “experts in their field” who are “eager to share their vast knowledge.”
Parks Commissioner Kathy O’Connor was equally impressed.
“Watching sap transform into golden syrup evokes wonder in children and adults alike,” she said, adding: “It’s a sweet reminder of patience, sustainability, and the fun of turning nature’s bounty into a timeless treat.”

Alfred B. DelBello Muscoot Farm is located at 51 Route 100 and the Trailside Nature Museum is at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, is off the junction of Routes 35 and 121 South in Cross River. Parking is free at Muscoot. Parking at Trailside is $5 with a park pass and $10 without.
