In addition to Murder in the Dollhouse, Rich is also the best-selling author of Monsters: The 1985 Chicago Bears and the Wild Heart of Football; The Sun & the Moon & the Rolling Stones; and The Chicago Cubs: Story of a Curse.

Animals, Books and Crafts for Kids!

The Library has the ABCs covered for kids – animals, books and crafts that is! On Thursday, January 8 at 4 p.m., “Tales for Tails” returns. In this program, children in kindergarten through grade five will read to therapy dogs. This helps children develop their reading skills and their sense of compassion. They will also learn about animal-savvy behavior. The program is led by volunteers from Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue.

On Wednesday, January 7 at 4:30 p.m., the “Magic Tree House Book Club” will discuss Midnight on the Moon, the eighth book in the series, and then make a themed craft! The Book Club is for students in grades one through five.

The Library is hosting TWO “Family Fun Crafts” on Saturday, January 10.  At 10:30 a.m., children ages three and up are invited to make a winter-themed sensory bag. Then at 11:30 a.m., children ages eight and up can come make their own snow globe.

Space is limited, please register for all the above programs via the Library website.

Snow Slime and D & D for Teens

Attention teens in Middle and High School - if you’ve wanted to learn how to play “Dungeons & and Dragons,” the Library is starting a brand-new winter campaign on January 12. The group will meet twice a month on Monday afternoons at 4 pm. Beginners are welcome. Why join? Dungeons & Dragons has been shown to enhance creativity, encourage teamwork and solving problems, and increase social learning skills.

For teens who like to craft, the Library is hosting a “Snow Slime and Winter Crafts” program on Wednesday, January 7 at 5 p.m. Come make adorable snowflake slime kits, and other winter crafts – a perfect activity for those cold winter blues!

Space is limited, please register for the teen programs via the Library website.

.Destination College – a New 12-Part Virtual Series

A group of libraries in the Westchester Library System are partnering on a 12-part virtual series called “Destination College.” Teens and parents won’t want to miss the first in the series, “Charting Your College Journey,” which takes place via Zoom on Monday, January 12 at 7 p.m. The series is led by Anjanie Narine, author of Destination College: A Four-Year Plan for High School Students. Attend all 12 sessions, or as many as you able. Each session will deal with a different topic. “Charting Your College Journey” will cover orientation and goal setting.

The series is intended to help high school teens establish a personalized roadmap to guide them in the college process. Students will learn how to make the most of their years in high school, setting themselves up for success in college and beyond. Please register for the Zoom link via the Library website.
