North Carolina pair arrested on drug, weapons charges in Lewisboro

LEWISBORO, N.Y. - A pair of North Carolina residents were arrested on multiple felony drug and weapons charges after New York State Police stopped a stolen vehicle on Interstate 684 in Lewisboro on July 26.

According to State Police, the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert for a stolen vehicle traveling northbound on I-684 through the Town of Harrison.

Troopers assigned to the Somers barracks located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 19.3 in Lewisboro.

Police identified the driver as 42-year-old Sadavian L. Donald of Charlotte, N.C., and the passenger as 42-year-old Amanda Nichols Oropeza, also of Charlotte.

During the roadside investigation, troopers recovered a plastic bag containing approximately 22 grams of a white crystalline substance that was presumptively identified as methamphetamine, along with a methamphetamine pipe, according to police.

A subsequent search of the vehicle, conducted after investigators established probable cause, resulted in the seizure of a Glock 20 handgun and three unloaded ammunition feeding devices.

Following an investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Somers, Donald and Oropeza were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (intent to sell), a Class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (methamphetamine), a Class C felony; three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (ammunition feeding devices), Class D felonies; criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Donald was additionally charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, a Class D felony, as well as multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Both defendants were processed by State Police and arraigned in Lewisboro Town Court. Donald was remanded to the Westchester County Jail pending a court appearance on July 27. Oropeza was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, a $30,000 secured bond or a $35,000 partially secured bond.
