LEWISBORO, N.Y. - Let me start by thanking Alison Biddle for arranging lunch for our seniors every Wednesday. Even though she lost her bid for a seat on the Lewisboro Town Board she has remained one of the Lewisboro Seniors strongest advocates. She has been reaching out to local businesses and individuals to donate lunch for our seniors. To donate lunch for our seniors on a Wednesday call Pam Veith, our director at 914-232-6162 or contact Alison Biddle directly on Facebook or Lewisboro Uncensored. Also, thanks to Alison’s husband Mark who takes time out of his busy day sometime to deliver lunch. Hats off to both of them. We truly appreciate your kindness.
Recently we had the Kids Community Club of Lewisboro come and interact with our seniors. They brought everything necessary to make the most wonderful plants. They provided the potting soil, planting pots, a variety of flowers and an array of stickers in which to decorate the pots. Gosset Brothers Nursery gave them a discount since the plants were a donation to the Lewisboro Seniors. I am extending our thanks to Gossets Nursery. It is nice to see the community working together to enhance the lives of seniors.
The children helped us with the potting and the decorating of our pots. They showed us the trick of how to remove stickers from the sheets. It is not as easy as it looks, but we finally got the hang of it. All of the seniors took a plant home and four of our homebound seniors were delivered a plant that the children had made for them. The children also exchanged stories with our seniors. They learned about history from us and we learned about what the children like to do. It was truly an enlightening experience. We also played several games of flower bingo. Our young bingo caller was delightful, and he even described the flowers.
So I would like to take the time now to thank every child that participated and made the life of a senior more enjoyable.
There is Alessandro Zaffiro, Lorenzo, Minerva, Cosimo, Cyrus Green, Penolope, Althea, Alexander Mirizio, and Nicholas.
I can’t say enough good things about these children. There is hope for our future.
The Lewisboro Seniors meet every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Salem Fire House on Route 35. We welcome everyone age 50+. We have many day trips to a variety of venues, Mohegan Sun, Villa Roma in the Catskills, Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe, to name a few. There is a free gift for new members. Don’t sit home alone. Enjoy the conversation, games, country line dancing, jewelry making, painting and all the interesting speakers we offer.
Call Pam Veith at 914-232-6162 or just show up on a Wednesday. We will be glad to see you. As President of the Lewisboro Seniors, I want every senior to have a delightful day where they don’t have to worry about a thing. I look forward to seeing of all you.
