CROSS RIVER, N.Y. - On Wednesday, Jan. 7, John Jay welcomed Arlington to the high school, but digging in was not an option for the Wolves. The Admirals ran the flag up the pole early and left the home team lost at sea in a dominant 57-22 victory.

Arlington set the tone immediately. Talan Rampolla opened the match by taking down Caleb Goldner, putting the 103-pounder to his back and securing a pin in just 59 seconds for a 6-0 lead.

Sam Kern’s bout ended even faster. Chase Mulvany shot in for a takedown and finished the pin in only 50 seconds.

John Jay answered back at 118 pounds when David Corrales grabbed a 3-0 first-period lead with a takedown before running a half nelson to a second-period pin.

At 126 pounds, John Aniello briefly kept the Wolves within striking distance. He ducked under for a single-leg takedown and piled up back points over the second and third periods, earning a major decision that trimmed the deficit to 17-10.

Any momentum was short-lived. Arlington reeled off a string of victories that erased any remaining drama, culminating at 215 pounds with Joe Ferrer. The heavyweight scored a takedown outside the circle and, holding a 3-1 second-period lead, ran a half nelson to a pin, pushing the Admirals well out of reach and sealing the rout.
