High-speed chase on 684 leads to felony drug arrest in Bedford

BEDFORD, N.Y. - A routine traffic stop turned into a felony arrest Sunday morning after a New York State Trooper clocked a vehicle speeding northbound on Interstate 684 in Bedford on Nov. 9.

According to State Police, the Trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over at approximately 9:42 a.m., but the driver refused to comply, prompting a brief pursuit. The vehicle was quickly forced to stop when it encountered slowed traffic a short distance ahead.

The driver, identified as Christina Virgilio, 39, of Danbury, CT, showed signs of impairment, police said. During an inventory of her belongings, Troopers reported finding drug paraphernalia, numerous fentanyl pills, and quantities of cocaine and Adderall.

Virgilio was arrested and charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree (Class D Felony)

  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (Class A Misdemeanors)

  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

  • Driving While Intoxicated (Unclassified Misdemeanor)

  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations

She was arraigned in Bedford Town Court and released on her own recognizance. Virgilio is scheduled to appear again on Nov. 19.
