KATONAH, N.Y. – Make it five straight wins for Harvey’s girls varsity soccer team as the Cavaliers beat the visiting EF International Academy squad handily, 10-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 1, on Stark Field in Katonah. It was Harvey’s third straight shutout victory and the fourth blanking of an opponent this season.

It was another day when the defense of the Cavaliers was superb and was complemented by a terrific offensive performance. Junior attacker Mikayla Neave led the Harvey offense with three goals and two assists. The team’s leading scorer has amassed 21 goals in her first eight games. Junior Amani Carty, sophomore Rylan Gilligan, and ninth grader Vivienne Stoller were also major contributors on the offensive side, scoring two goals each. Carty also recorded two assists while Gilligan earned one of her own. Senior Sasha Nannizzi added a goal as well. Junior captain Sophia Collum had two assists while sophomore Lainey Hanson of Yorktown Heights and junior Skye Watson were each credited with an assist.

Senior goalie Emily Lehrburger had six saves to keep the shutout intact.

The win improved Harvey’s overall record to 6-1-1 with all six wins and the one tie coming against HVAL opponents.

Harvey coach Dylan McDonough has been impressed with his team’s performance so far this season. “I’m really proud of the girls. Everyone has been working very hard and we’ve really been playing as a team. Each game it seems that we’re getting better and better.”

The Harvey girls return to action Tuesday, Oct. 8, on the road in Danbury against Wooster, an HVAL opponent the Cavs beat 9-0 in their first encounter this season back in September.
