BEDFORD, N.Y. - The first night of Hanukkah was a shining success, say folks who braved the teeth-chattering cold to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights in Bedford.
Organized by Chabad of Bedford with the help of numerous partners and volunteers, the lighting of the menorah took place on the Village Green on Sunday, Dec 14.
There was a holiday shopping walk, a performance by a children’s choir, Hanukkah swag (think dreidels and gelt), games, photo ops with an adorable walking dreidel, singing, dancing, and traditional goodies such as latkes and sufganiyot (deep-fried, jelly doughnuts).
