Donald W. Russell, age 78 of Middlebury, passed away peacefully August 3, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born October 13, 1947 in Hastings, NY, son of the late William and Catherine (Hamilton) Russell.  Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 1st Signal Brigade operating in the Northern Provinces of Vietnam where he was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Having earned an associates degree, Donald had worked as a self employed real estate broker. He maintained a close connection with his Hastings High School friends, enjoyed time at the American Legion, VFW, fishing, hunting and in his younger years was an accomplished athlete who was elected into the hall of fame at Hastings High School. However, he found his greatest joy spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. He will be remembered for his very giving nature, always providing to others.

He leaves his son, Jonathan Russell and his wife Ashley Russell, his beloved granddaughter Rylee Russell, daughter Alexandra Russell and her husband Adam Carlotto, sister Arlene Russell, and a host of extended family and close friends.

Arrangements

Funeral services and burial are private and at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Sgt. Joseph J. Morrissey Auxiliary 9257, 4 Fairfield Dr, Patterson, NY, 12563. Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury is assisting his family with arrangements.
