Cecily Goodman, 93, of Southbury, CT, died on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Danbury Hospital. She was born on May 16, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Bertha and Murray Teitelbaum.

Cecily raised her family in Pleasantville, NY before moving to Heritage Hills in Somers, NY and eventually Southbury, CT. She was instrumental in the pre-K program in Hawthorne, NY in the early 1960’s, before moving into a career in the insurance industry. She was a dedicated volunteer throughout her life, and played a leadership role in many organizations.

Cecily was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Berk, who passed in 2011. Their first date was a baseball double-header and she was known to say that being a Yankees fan was part of her marriage contract, a fandom which she embraced until the end of her life. They traveled extensively, and particularly enjoyed their trips to Japan and Hong Kong. Cecily was an adventurous cook, an avid reader of all genres, and the linchpin of her East Hill trivia team for many years.

Cecily treasured her role as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the loving mother of George (Jaye) Goodman of Ossining, NY and their children Brian, Michael (Brendan), Stephen; Doug Goodman (Nancy) of Webster, NY and their children Jackie (Chaz), Jimmy (Devin), Mark; and Jayne (Neil) Dorso of Milford, CT and their children Kyle (Elizabeth) and Paige. She was the proud great grandmother of Theodore, Jonathan, Josephine, Dorothy, Charles and Miles, and had an uncanny knack for giving them their favorite gifts for holidays and birthdays.

The family would like to thank the staff at East Hill, Danbury Hospital, and Clark Associates Funeral Home for their care for Cecily at the end of her life.

Her final resting place will be alongside Berk at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY. Interment was at a private celebration at Ferncliff Cemetery on Saturday, August 30.
