Barbara Joan Shaw, known to her friends as BJ, was born on June 26, 1942, and passed away suddenly on Friday October 9, 2026.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Barbara was a proud graduate of Hunter College High School. She later made her home in Yonkers and then in Katonah where she made everyone feel welcome and like family in the home they shared for the last 53 years.
Barbara had a passion for football, would never miss one of her sons’ sporting or life events, making sure everyone knew who she was rooting for. No matter what, good or bad, Barbara was always there. She enjoyed going out to concerts and having dinner with friends and family, whether out or especially when she exercised her love for cooking. Barbara was always up on the latest fashion and loved to have everyone comment on her forever manicured nails.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Shaw; her three sons, Jonathan (Andrea), Ian (Susan), and Corey. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Hannah, Zoe, Phoebe, Renee, Lyla, Kayla, and Liam. She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Abe, and her brother, Howard.
Barbara will be deeply missed and remembered with love by her family and friends.
