Antonio Occhicone, 75, of Carmel, NY died peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Antonio was born on July 2, 1951, in Andretta, Italy to Rosa and Angelo Occhicone. Before immigrating to the United States, he served in the Italian army where he was stationed in Switzerland.  He held this honor dearly and spoke about it often.

After marrying his love, Antonietta Strazza on January 21, 1973 in Italy, he immigrated to the United States at age of 22 to pursue their new life in America. They remained happily married for over 53 years. Together they raised three children, Angelo, Rosanna and Joseph.

Antonio was a confident man who made bold decisions to seek a better life in America. After 25 years of owning his own landscaping business with his brother, he decided to pivot and follow his passion for food and opened a pizzeria where he learned everything from the ground up.  Proud of his accomplishment, he remained in the pizzeria/restaurant/food business for the remainder of his life until he retired in 2025.  He was dearly loved by his family and friends. He used his huge personality and humor to make others laugh and feel comfortable. A devoted husband, family man and proud Nonno who worked very hard, enjoyed gatherings surrounded by his family and good food, gardening with his wife and being the BEST and funniest Nonno to his six grandchildren.

Antonio leaves behind his loving wife, Antonietta; his son Angelo (daughter-in-law, Marcella); his daughter Rosanna (son-in-law, Michael), his son Joseph (daughter-in-law, Jennifer); and his six beautiful grandchildren (whom he adored), Antonio, Micayla, Michael, Olivia, Angelo, Jr. and Madilyn.  Antonio is also survived by his brother Guiseppe Occhicone (Angelina), loving sisters-in law Rosa and Teresa, and numerous nieces and nephews. He joins his two beloved brothers-in-law (Michele and Michael) in Heaven.

Antonio will be dearly missed by his family, especially his grandchildren and by all. May God bless him and his family. His family would like to thank family and friends for all of their support during this difficult time.

To honor Antonio’s life, family and friends will gather on Thursday, September 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 18, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY.
