LEWISBORO, N.Y. - A routine traffic stop on Interstate 684 led to the discovery of a significant quantity of narcotics and the arrest of two men from New York City, according to the New York State Police.

On Tuesday, March 24 at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit stopped a vehicle traveling northbound on 684 in Lewisboro for violations of the state’s Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Police identified the driver as John Williams, 36, of the Bronx, and the front-seat passenger as Jorge L. Centeno, 48, of Brooklyn.

During the investigation, troopers conducted a consent search of the vehicle and uncovered an aftermarket, electronically operated hidden compartment. A K-9 unit performed an exterior scan and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

A subsequent search of the compartment revealed approximately two kilograms of cocaine, multiple individually packaged quantities of crack cocaine, and roughly 28 grams of fentanyl, police said.

Williams and Centeno were taken into custody and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, a Class A-I felony, as well as additional felony counts including possession and intent to sell narcotics.

Both men were arraigned in North Castle Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail pending further proceedings.
