KATONAH, N.Y. - Four area high school athletes are making their mark in spring track and field this spring for The Harvey School. In their most recent competition, the four performed very well last weekend at two different track meets, the Brewster Bear Invitational Friday and the Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS) Invitational.

On April 10, at Brewster High School, ninth grader Ally Zimmerman of Mahopac and sophomore captain Lilah Groff of Waccabuc performed at a high level in the 2000-meter steeplechase. Zimmerman finished fourth, running 8:21.54, and Groff came in sixth at 8:30.47.

The Harvey track and field team followed up the meet with more strong performances the following day at GCDS. Senior captain Mollie Weisberger of Somers won the high jump event by clearing 4ft 10in to earn the first-place finish. Sophomore Evan Talenfeld of Katonah produced an impressive 30-foot personal best in the javelin, placing No.2 with a toss of 97ft 9in.

Harvey head coach Christian Coscio called the team’s back-to-back events “a great weekend of competition in which our athletes really stepped up.”

Harvey’s track and field team competes in many spring meets that include athletes from independent schools and public schools as well.
