YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. —The Town of Yorktown has issued a proclamation recognizing the 250th birthday of the United States Navy.

During the Oct. 14 work session, Supervisor Ed Lachterman and the Town Board declared Oct. 13 as the U.S. Navy’s 250th Birthday, honoring the service’s history and generations of sailors who have upheld its core values of honor, courage, and commitment since its founding in 1775.

The proclamation also recognizes Navy families, veterans, and civilians for their contributions and continued support.

Residents are encouraged to join in commemorating the milestone and reflecting on the Navy’s role in protecting national security and promoting freedom of the seas.
