Westchester Bluegrass Club set to kick off ‘Summer Stage’

Posted

Nestled in the scenic hills of Lake Purdys, the Westchester Bluegrass Club (WBC) has been bringing world-class acoustic music to the community for 17 years. Founded by local resident and award-winning songwriter Mike Burns, the WBC has built a reputation for intimate performances, exceptional talent, and a welcoming, down-to-earth vibe.

And now, with the launch of its “Summer Stage at Lake Purdys,” the club is bringing the music outside for a relaxed, family-friendly concert series by the lake.

Introducing the Summer Stage

The 2025 Summer Stage series is all about fresh air, great music, and shared experiences. Held outdoors at the Lake Purdys Clubhouse, these shows invite you to bring a lawn chair, a picnic, and your favorite beverage—and settle in for a night of acoustic magic.

With free admission for kids, the Summer Stage makes it easy for families to enjoy a fun, affordable night of live music under the open sky.

Upcoming Summer Stage performances include Connecticut-based bluegrass duo The Zolla Boys on Sunday, July 6, mandolin virtuoso Jacob Jolliff on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Becky Buller with banjo legend Ned Luberecki on Friday, Sept. 12.

Each show kicks off with an open mic at 6 p.m., followed by the main act at 6:30 p.m. Admission is a $30 suggested donation.

The Vision of WBC

Mike Burns has spent nearly two decades cultivating the musical magic behind the Westchester Bluegrass Club. With his deep connections in the bluegrass and roots world, Mike has brought artists like Tony Trischka, Michael Daves, and Bruce Molsky to Lake Purdys. Under his direction, the WBC has become a sought-after stop for Grammy-nominated performers and IBMA award winners alike.

In addition to live concerts, the club also supports future musicians through a network of top-tier instructors from across the tri-state area.

Whether you're a lifelong bluegrass fan or simply looking for something unique to do with your family on a summer night, the Westchester Bluegrass Club’s Summer Stage is not to be missed. It’s more than just a concert—it's a gathering of music lovers, neighbors, and friends, all coming together to enjoy great performances in a beautiful lakeside setting.
