NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - As they prepared to flip the calendar to October, our Tiger teams were riding a wave of momentum following a successful homecoming weekend. Recent highlights included girls soccer logging three straight shutout wins and volleyball digging deep for a huge comeback victory over Croton-Harmon.
GIRLS SOCCER
North Salem 6, Haldane 0
Thursday, Sept. 25
The Tiger offense exploded on the road with hat tricks from sophomores Sienna Paldin and Jackie Moore. Paldin would also add a pair of assists with another key feed coming from junior Jennifer Killeen. Grace Schaeffer had 2 saves in goal.
North Salem 6, Putnam Valley 0
Saturday, Sept. 27
The squad rolled to another huge win behind two goals from Paldin, with Moore, Maddy Horel , Alana Cerasoli and Abby Bain all finding the back of the net. Horel, Moore, Cerasoli, and Zoe Elias all had assists, and Schaeffer notched 5 saves.
North Salem 2, Scarsdale B 0
Monday, Sept. 29
North Salem kept their foot on the gas for their third straight shutout with Paldin once again handling scoring duties off a pair of assists from Killeen.
VOLLEYBALL
North Salem 3, Haldane 0
Thursday, Sept. 25
The Tigers handled the Blue Devils at home, 25-17, 25-12, 25-21. Ally Maza (14 kills, 4 aces, 2 blocks, 1 assist) Addy Moia (12 kills, 1 block, 3 digs), Sadie Matt (24 assists, 3 aces, 6 digs) and Sophia Miller (9 digs, 2 assists) all played strong to help improve the team’s league record to 3-0.
North Salem 3, Croton-Harmon 2
Saturday, Sept. 27
After dropping the first two sets, the Tigers battled back for a huge home win, 22-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-14, 15-8. Matt (35 assists, 19 digs, 5 kills, 2 aces), Moia (21 kills, 11 digs, 2 assists), Maza (14 kills, 12 digs, 3 blocks, 2 assists) and Miller (23 digs, 3 assists) led the charge, with Keira O'Hanlon (3 kills, 9 digs, 2 aces) and Sophia Aqeel (3 blocks, 2 kills) also having solid days on the court.

North Salem 3, John Jay 1
Saturday, Sept. 27
The Tigers played spoilers for John Jay’s homecoming behind standout performances from Liam Keegan (2 goals) and Jhon Rodriguez (1 goal). Sean Randall, Patrick Dooley, and Aidan Santis had assists, with Kyle Li and Anthony Federice splitting keeper duties and combining for 11 saves.
North Salem 4, Tuckahoe 1
Tuesday, Sept. 30
The squad trounced Tuckahoe at home behind goals from Santis, Randall, Spencer Sabatini, and Jack Braz. Keegan, Jason Gjushi, Juben Lazri, and Nico Maya had assists.
FIELD HOCKEY
Bronxville 4, North Salem 0
Friday, Sept. 26
The Tigers were blanked under the lights at home. Anya Ghosh had 8 saves in goal.
Horace Greeley 9, North Salem 0
Saturday, Sept. 27
The squad was shutout for the second straight day, this time on the road against a tough Quaker team. Ghosh notched 20 saves.
CROSS COUNTRY
Admiral Harrier Invitational
Saturday, Sept. 27
The Tigers had a strong showing against many larger schools. 8th grader Nick Petronzi and freshman Andrew Barnett had good showings in their first 5K, finishing 18th and 27th, respectively.
Rounding out the day were Drew Karam (33rd), Skyler Smith (71st), Jonathan Alves (115th), Marissa Ferrara (34th), Freyja Smith (54th), Shannon Moravian (62nd), Mateo Mergeche (48th), Aaron Brown (57th), Andrew Petronzi (58th), Paul Connelley (61st), Chase Conterelli (63rd) and Michael DiMase (97th).
The Tigers are now set for the league championship meet on Thursday, Oct. 9 at North Salem High School at 5 p.m.
